General Description:

  • Responsible for managing all aspects of quality assurance including establishing metrics, applying industry best practices, and developing new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are met.
  • Act as a key point of contact for all QA aspects of releases, providing QA services and coordinating QA resources internally and externally.
  • Plan, direct, or coordinate quality assurance programs.
  • Formulate quality control policies and control the quality of production efforts.
  • Develop training material and facilitate training activities.
  • Coordinate the selection and implementation of quality control equipment such as inspection gauges.
  • Work with manufacturing to produce products on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives.
  • Supervises staff of production assemblers, lead supervisors, and monitor materials inventories, track the progress of production and review factors which effects production schedules.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures for cable production and related products. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Responsible to assure quality compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Responsible for supervision of shipping and receiving supervisor to ensure proper location of material and inventory.
  • Responsible for developing production schedules with lead personnel to ensure the quality, efficiencies and delivery dates are met.

Job Functions:

Performs a variety of complex tasks. Can interpret work from drawings, manual and technical specifications, is a team player, and self-starter with a high degree of professionalism and dependability. Ability to communicate effectively, learn quickly and balance multiple priorities. Responsible for thoroughness and competency in MIL-SPEC Standard projects and cable/harness assemblies.

Typical Duties:

  1. Trains employees in the tools, work techniques, and skills required to accomplish work assignments.
  2. Performs work in accordance with sound safety practices.
  3. Coordinate the selection and implementation of quality control equipment such as inspection gauges.
  4. Create processes for technicians to follow for assembly manufacturing.
  5. Monitor development of new products to help identify possible problems for mass production.
  6. Confer with the contract department to define customer requirements and expectations.
  7. Audit and inspect subcontractor facilities.
  8. Act as the management representative as defined in ISO 9001:2008.
  9. Lead the internal audit team in performing formalized QMS internal audits.
  10. Responsible for hosting and preparing all customer and third party audits including but not limited to AS9100/ISO 9001 QMS audit and audits to support processing.
  11. Serve as the primary customer liaison with respect to customer problems and concerns in regards to quality, providing root cause and corrective action as required by the customer.
  12. Oversee the calibration program to ensure all gages used for product acceptance are calibrated in accordance with customer/industry requirements.
  13. Direct the maintenance, storage, receipt, and shipment of all customer furnished special tooling.
  14. Identify relevant quality-related training needs and oversee the development of the required training.
  15. Perform semi-annual management review meetings as defined in AS9100 and internal procedures.
  16. Perform management buy off on all first article product.
  17. Perform other incidental duties as may be required.
  18. Develop training material and facilitate training activities.
  19. Must be able to multitask and work flexible hours.

Qualifications:

  1. Requires knowledge equivalent to that received through graduation from high school plus additional pre-engineering or related courses in vocational training or college-level courses, or equivalent knowledge gained through experience.
  2. Requires the ability to interpret and communicate assembly drawings and specifications.
  3. Requires knowledge of cable/harness assemblies including MIL-SPEC cylindrical connectors, backshells, terminal boxes.
  4. Ability to provide guidance across departments in a team environment.
  5. Ability to effectively plan and allocate resources and identify downstream impacts before they occur.
  6. Ability to offer proactive solutions and ensure successful progression.
  7. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  8. Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering with the past 2+ in Management or higher roles.
  9. Strong background in cable assembly manufacturing, IPC 620 A certification (If currently not certified, the candidate will get certified upon hire).
  10. Expertise in leading quality engineering teams in all aspects of higher reliability manufacturing such as Aerospace & Defense, Medical Devices, and Automotive, is needed.
  11. Engineering background a plus.
