Ace Electronics, was awarded a $30,519,332 firm fixed price contract. The award will provide for the production serices in support of the digitization of the M119A2 Howitzer. Work will be performed in Metuchen, NJ with an estimated completion date of June 29, 2017. The bid was solicited through the Internet, with seven bids received. The U.S. Army Contracting Command, Picatinny Arsenal, N.J. is the contracting activity.
The M119A2 is a lightweight 105mm Howitzer that provides suppressive and protective fires for Infantry Brigade Combat Teams.
The upgraded M119A2 will be equipped with a digital fire control system that includes an inertial navigation unit, guided-precision system technology and other features that will give the weapon the ability to determine its precise geographical location on its own.
